I dont understand how the rankings work, how do we get 4th place in a strong field and are ahead of two top 10 teams, but yet drop to 15th or 18th, depending on which one you look at.  Shouldn't we have stayed around 9 or even maybe moved up a spot or two.  Maybe we just dont get enough respect.

The precipitous drop in the Coaches poll (from 9 to 18) was really from the previous tourney, rather than the Valspar. the Coaches poll comes out less frequently, and updated its site only after both tourneys.

USF stayed about the same in the other three polls after just the Valspar.

Remember, there are many other tourneys going on around the country at the same time, so the polls also take those into account.

They were #1 for a long time, so their stats were excellent and their recent, relatively poor, showings are averaged into their overall record, which is still quite good in comparison to most other teams.
