If you can stay through DW then you can stay through anything. There are high school athletic departments in Tampa better run than DW organization.

I don't think anyone needs to send e-mails. Harlan sees gate counts. Firing Taggart now would be a huge mistake (and frankly so would our miniscule remaining fan base pushing hard for his removal). Any coach we would consider hiring needs to feel confident he will be given a fair chance to make the necessary adjustments and right the ship. If they think two rough seasons (with improvement shown in season 2) would put there job in jeopardy the pool of available coaches would be small.

Exactly this and the fact we would be paying two coaches to not coach at USF along with the new one makes it hard to fire Taggart this season.  I would be very surprised to see Taggart but if Harlan were to do such a thing I'm betting he has a very good replacement in mind or at least a very strong list of candidates that would seriously the job.  Harlan really seems to have his stuff together and I loved both of his hires so far.

To be fair, we owe a lot of thanks for DW for getting the nice facilities that we have. He will always be remembered for that to me. Give your thanks to DW if you have not already done it.

True dat.

We can complain about Dougie all we want (and I did!), but we did some SERIOUS facility upgrades on his watch

I recommended a few choice washrooms around campus we should name in his honor. Perhaps even the port-a-pottys around RJS lot 3. The facilities upgrades would have happened with or without him - look at every other university (UF, UCF, FAU, heck even FIU). The guy was a complete and total fool. I don't hold Judy responsible for much in athletics - she has done an amazing job in academics - but she should have actually fired him and done it years ago!

Agreed. He had some terrible hires and made a lot of bad decisions. I just think he got too old and bored with the job at USF. He seemed to get more done when he arrived at USF with getting the facilities. I think he must of thought to go on cruise control and not pay attention to the details going on at USF. Glad USF made the move to get some young up and coming AD in Harlan. He has made some great moves already as he is eager and hungry to make a name. Unlike Woolard in my opinion.

She got too buddy buddy with DW so that was not going to happen. Only way DW gets fired is if a major scandal happened at USF which it didnt. That is how we lost a great AD in Paul Griffin because of the womens basketball scandal. DW made sure of it to clean things up such as the mens basketball program which was flirting with NCAA violations.

That is fair - I give him credit for keeping our programs clean and that is a key responsibility of his position. But I give him 0 credit for facilities upgrades. It wasn't like he came up with some super creative fundraising campaigns or illicit strong community involvement. He took on debt and raised student fees - what an accomplishment. And in general I think we may actual lag behind our peers during same time frame - why no practice facility? Why no main street like athletic experience?

Now it is a new era at USF with Harlan at the helm. I feel a lot better today than I did last year just because I know there will be changes. The status quo has killed USF. Football is the major makeover and I hope CWT can do it. If not, Harlan will make that change and hire someone that will be considered his guy. CWT is a DW hire and I am sure Harlan wont be too buddy buddy to fire CWT if things keep getting worse. I feel we will be alright in a few seasons. The recruits are better now. Holtz really dug USF a hole in the recruiting departments. He went after too many players up north that SEC schools wanted. We lost too many wars with the SEC. CWT knows that the TB area has tons of players thare are good and not being recruited by SEC as hard. He has worked his tail off on the recruiting trail. He just needs to coach better.
