Not sure how concerning this is but according to joey knight some recruits are thinking about decommiting due to lack of fans at the stadium.

Actually, what he said was after asking 3 recruits, 1 of them said it might factor into his decision. But I can see how 1 kid saying the small crowds is a factor is equivalent to some recruits are thinking about decommitting.

So, to answer your question, its not very concerning.

It's the lack of attendance itself that is concerning. Wow. It is dead in those stands. Red seats must have made Houston feel at home. Some people on here are referring to ray jay as the "morgue". I agree. I'm one of those fans who will be there for every game, but I have started leaving early.

Exactly. The attendance concerns me, but not as it relates to recruiting. There are a few ways to solve the problem:

1) Don't suck.

2) Don't be insanely boring to watch.

There is one way to make the problem worse:

1) Be sucky and boring.

And this is why it's always good to go back to the source ...

Taggart's fine...

I don't know why many of you here expected a win today...

USF will beat SMU to improve the season with 4 wins (100% improvement)

In not drinking the kool aid this team is awful and I am sick of the excuses. Taggart is in over his head. The parents of 2 players on the defensive line confirm that

Plenty of players parents say the exact same thing.  When starting players parents are against you, you have ZERO hope in turning things around. We had the "good cop" in Officer Friendly (Skippy Holtz) and now we have "bad cop" in the form of Officer Abel Turner (Willy Taggart), neither personas work because the football acumen in both are weak, especially on game day.

So let me get this straight....CWT takes a team that was horrid, weak, lacking heart and using skip's team and most of his recruits goes 2-10 in his first year with a walk on QB and a QB that couldnt take a snap from center that is no longer playing football, a transfer that has never played, and a true freshmen then into his 2nd year with many of the same players from the previous coach, playing almost all of the new freshmen and redshirt freshmen he recruited just to start building for the future even though they are not ready and is 3-5 and will most likely go 4-8 or 5-7 with an outside chance of 6-6 , a 2 to 4 game increase in wins over the previous season and you all dont see progress?  What did you think was gonna happen?  CWT was gonna come in and magically cure all of Skip's ill doings and change a culture of laziness and losing in 1-2 years?  Most of you are out of your everloving minds to expect this was gonna be a quick turn around a 1 year fix.

Pretty much this.  I predicted 5-7 coming into the year but I think we end up a win short of that.  Anyone expecting anything great the first two seasons was being completely unrealistic...

This is year 2.

Team has made strides from year 1 but not as much as people expected.

Yes we could have won a few more of the games this year, but then again I think we are lucky to have won any.

In 2 years name a game that we have played well on both sides of the ball and you felt good about what you saw.

Nobody is expecting great....just a team that is prepared, plays hard and is slightly competitive.

Actually coming into this season after what we saw last year this was what was to be expected.  We were EXTREMELY lucky to win a game last year let alone two (think about how many bounces you have to get to win games without scoring offensive touchdowns).  Hell, we were giving up more touchdowns on offense than we were scoring for stretch of last season. Last year was a dumpster fire where we very rarely flashed anything at all as a football team and when we did it was true freshmen getting PT towards the end of the season.

Coming into this season we were very young at pretty much every key position on the football team (secondary, QB, LB, DL, RB) and returned guys that were less than serviceable at key positions (OT, OG, WR) getting regular PT.   So expectations for any rational person would be that we would still have a long way to go but we have a team full of young guys that are still growing into their positions physically and mentally but are far from ready to play complete games.  We have flashed for halves against some of the better teams on your schedule (Maryland, Wisconsin, ECU) and at other times flashed the ability to dominate teams we want to dominate in the future (WCU, UCONN, Tulsa) but again fail to put together that kind of play for 4 quarters.  We have also had games where we just came out and were flat dominated (Houston, NCST, Cinci).

I've seen exactly what I expected to see from us this season a team that is struggling to put it all together and is one year away from competing consistently game in and game out.  I've seen young players flash great ability at times (Mack, Adams, Harris, Godwin, Swanson, Johnson, Senat, Calloway) and I've seen upperclassmen that continue to be over matched or just play poorly (Eatmon, Gudmudsson, Williams, Welch, Price).  The biggest thing that has killed us has been awful QB Play which there seems to be no easy answer to unless we hit the lottery and Kean or another freshmen/JUCO/Transfer can give us at least average play at QB.  I Think in the end that could be what does Taggart in because we don't seem to have an answer at QB on the roster.

Are the players upperclassmen or Taggart's recruits?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
