I'm in agreement with you guys, simply speculating. I have absolutely no problem not going deep early as long as we're winning.

It would suck to win 70 games in 3 years at USF huh?

Thx,

Apparently, SI rips everybody. Howland, Rice, etc...

I like where it talks about him not being able to break a player of his habit of being overweight and ambivalent. Good thing those aren't USF problems he'll encounter.

@TBTimes_Bulls: From what I'm hearing, Rice wants the @USFMBB job. Really wants it.

Okay, from all the stuff that I've read, I think UNLV is going to let him go; they won't match our offer.

I think it's an 85% chance that he will accept our offer and be the next coach at USF -pending the background check!

1) The fans don't like his coaching. It's 50/50 on those who want to give him another year and those who want him out.

2) He feels the pressure to win without time to develop his players and one of his assistants just left to accept a head coaching job. But in a down year he had 20 wins!

3) He's a very good recruiter but a questionable floor coach, according to the fans.

4) Lots of years under Tarkanian and has always been around winning.

5) Very smart guy (with degrees!).

From my perspective, I think it's a gamble. But it's better than going with any number of other coaching candidates out there right now.

His player went as the #1 draft in the NBA...

its funny how Ben Howland and Shaka are picks to replace him, but there is question whether they can match the salary

Surprised that nobody else has commented on that. If he leaves UNLV to come here, two of the top candidates to replace him are not top candidates here ... Either the writer is nuts or there's something else going on.

I think the writer was referring OUR opening. Either way, he's nuts!

Looks like UNLV is letting him walk, taking the buyout, and upgrading. We're the school that's going to make it happen.

He will have to win here too. The good news is that 20 wins is a bar for this team that most will accept at least initially. Maybe not five years down the road, but right now that'll be good.
