It's the guys agent using it as leverage for a possible better offer or matching from the folks at UNLV.  Come on guys, that's what greasy agents are all about.

Surprised that nobody else has commented on that. If he leaves UNLV to come here, two of the top candidates to replace him are not top candidates here ... Either the writer is nuts or there's something else going on.

Perhaps. But if UNLV wasn't willing to match what Kruger got elsewhere, then why would they match Rice? That reeks of a university with a tight athletic budget. In addition, the guy has won 70 games in three years. Yeah, it's UNLV, but it's not as if he hasn't shown himself capable. He's gone 6-7 against the top 25 in three season at UNLV. I'd say that's pretty good-add in that three of those losses were by less than five points and 2 more by seven points. My only problem with this guy is that he hasn't won once he gets to the tournament. Right now getting to the tournament sounds awesome. But would we be willing to accept that he may not go far? he's never gotten past the round of 64.

Feel the same way... Lets get 20 wins a season for 3 or 4 years then we can start worrying about how deep we go in the tourney

I think that's the next step for us, getting to the Big Dance on fairly consistent basis. I would love to get the point where we're talking about firing a coach for not getting past the first weekend ...
