B&E coming in at the 11th hour and saying "oh by the way, we should have produced this earlier but here you go!" is not ok. We pay them - supposedly - to catch that at the right time.

B&E sending us someone whose interest level is clearly not there is not ok.

I agree ... with the money we're paying them they need to utilize mind readers in the process.

I appreciate the humor, but that is their job.

And how exactly do you determine if they're lying about the interest?

By using the experience, expertise and judgement that made you worth $60k to conduct the search.

They take the money, the buck stops with them. I get what you're saying, but whatever their process is isn't looking so great. Regardless of whether it is their fault or not it is their job to get us a head coach and they aren't doing the job. I don't do my job I either find a way to start taking care of issues that aren't my fault or I'm out of that job.

Once is chance, twice is a coincidence, third time is a pattern.

The pattern is almost upon them.

Rice didn't dupe USF.  He duped UNLV.  If I wasn't so lazy, I'd head to their board. Betting the majority are mad that he's staying...and likely getting more money/longer contract.

I'm reminded of the "Holtz has several major programs interested" duping. At least Rice actually had conversation(s) with USF.

Press did the same lazy parroting of leaks and each other without verifying anything in either case.

I guess perception is in the eye of the beholder.  Maybe USF wanted him, and maybe an informal offer was given to Rice, and told to take a few days to figure it out.

Rice is a UNLV alum, with a stellar recruiting class coming in.  He'd be nuts to want to leave, and seemed on the hot seat.

Not sure why USF was even interested, given the above, but seems they were.  So, Rice likely got some offer, and parlayed it into a nice contract mod.  USF can't tell motives/desires.  RIce got what he wanted, perhaps, and got the threat of another school poaching him to better his deal (I'm sure he used the incoming recruits as leverage).

Frankly, I think we're better off, and a lot to offer a D-1 coach.

Fingers crossed there's a decent coach left on the market who thinks the way you do.

So if I entertain an offer from a headhunter, and decide to lever that to get a better deal with my employer (who is free to tell me to get bent), my employer is a childlike dupe?

Dafa?
