a name doesn't but when we are talking 4th 5th...who knows what choice the quality of coach is getting worse. Rice is a great hire and if he brings one of those recruits USF will be in good shape.  Plus USF will have to pay this lesser coach the same amount of money since that is what is out there otherwise the offer again will be rejected

Which candidate has not been a good candidate yet?

Not really sure I understand the logic of a lot of people around here.

On our side we reach out to the coaches that fit the profile of what we are looking for in a coach (we being the people in the administration that created the profile) that fits into the compensation range identified that we are willing to spend. The people show they are interested by going through the entire interview process. We make an offer that doubles or even quintuples their current deal. Where are we going wrong? Is this supposed to be a Nancy Pelosi deal? Just make sure they don't know what is in the deal and accept the deal before we make an actual offer? Or make them take a lie detector as part of the interview process to make sure that they are really, really, really interested in doubling their salary to almost a million and half bucks.

No matter who is hired, you can't realistically know how they will do here until they get the chance ...

Only at USF.... Hit a HR (Masiello), play is under review, turns into a ground rule double (Rice).

Why did we pay the search firm 60K? I thought they were to provide anonymity, so we wouldn't end up with egg on our face if someone turned us down. This coaching search will go down as one of the worst ever.

Great first week Harlan!

Cue the circus music....

Not really sure what you want them to do. No one from USF's side has said a word about any of the coaching candidates at any stage except the press release addressing Massiello.

The only reason the public heard about Massiello is Pitino shot his mouth off about Massiello coming to him for advice.

We know about Rice because the UNLV AD is mouthing off about the fact that she has to resolve her situation because has an offer.

No one knew about Rice until that point. You can't keep it much more secret than that. Not the search firm's fault if the UNLV AD does all her business in public.

Exactly. Sports paparazzi are as bad as celebrity paparazzi. No ethics, no repercussions for false info, the only thing that matters is having your name associated with breaking the story. Sad.
