We should only be thinking about an OCS once the following occurs:

1. We accept entry in a P5 conference (revenue)

2. The students show that they will actually show up to an on-campus event in force (need)

3. The team has some degree of success on the field that would warrant an OCS

Guys, until this happens its pointless to have this thread. An OCS should NOT be on anyone's radar at this point. To do so would show that administration has its priorities backwards and would be fiscally irresponsible.

Please kill this thread.

What the hell is wrong with launching a 5 year fundrasing campaing?  Start the process now, start building it when some of the stuff in your post is in place.  It's not like it hurts anything.

Whats stopping you from launching the fundraising by sending in your check to the USF Foundation marked for the building of an OCS.  I've never heard of USF refusing a directed donation.

An official announcement from the Administration would help drive more than just my check.  Thanks for your awesome advice though.

That's a simple one.

They haven't started the fundraising for an OCS because they don't want it to divert funds from other areas of need.

As soon as they officially announce the OCS, the bulk of the money will go there, and fundraising for everything else instantly becomes 10x more difficult.

It will happen. Patience, Grasshoppers.

Yup!

If you agree, why did you vote it down, then?  I voted it up - now it's zero.  You're the only one who would have done that ...

it's interesting to see both sides, but I have to say I don't think UCF, Houston, or Tulane had a ton of student support or P5 invites or legacies of winning when they decided to build new stadiums. UCF and Tulane's decisions to build their stadiums have come very near to their football team having 0-11 or just generally terrible performances on the field. UCF has improved over the years, but Tulane remains to be seen, and their twinkle of success this year must be improved upon to prove it wasn't a fluke by the Houston/UCF/SMU's leaving them in a weakened conference. Houston has had better teams over the years and their stadium was just old to begin with. UCF did have issues with the Citrus Bowl, but they probably could've eked out another 10 years in it if they really really had to. I don't think Tulane has to leave the SuperDome, though it's getting up there in age and Katrina did no favors to it long term. There's no excuse for USF that we need to wait on a P5 invite, or have a better team or student section in order to forge forward and look at feasibility of an OCS.

Other side of it is "build it, they will come". There will be a honeymoon period no doubt. Then the team's success will need to take over to keep people coming back, and the Athletic Department in general who will be responsible for making it an experience.

One thing I do have to add: we will get an OCS one day. But for the impatient complainers, the first year, maybe two...will be awkward and have its share of issues. UCFs first year or two wasn't perfect, and evolving into an OCS fanbase and gameday experience isn't perfected over night.

A stadium has already been purposed, an design has been submitted, and it hasn't moved in a while. But, there are serious backers behind this. Certain things and people aren't lining up yet.

That's a lot of inside info right there. Please elaborate if you can.
