OCS might be the key to a Big 5. Actually the Big 12. That's the most realistic. I know that the Big 12 has reached out to several schools, including UCF and USF to discuss their criteria for membership. Maybe an OCS is something that the Big 12 prefers, thus why that would be a priority.

Well said!!! I believe it would reallly help. Anyone that thinks the OCS for UCF has been a bad thing is just in denial. The OCS was a great investment decision by UCF and I applaud them for it.

I don't think anybody has said it was a bad thing for them ... just that is that it was a frying pan made out of an erector set, glorified high school stadium.

UNCC built a 15K seat stadium...is that what you want at USF?

And remember, UNCC did not play in the Panther's stadium They started, Day 1, on campus. Although the stadium can be expanded, it's a wait-n-see as to how much demand there is for that. UNCC played six games, four of which were sellouts (15K).

Interesting 49er stuff...

Okay, serious question.  What is the big deal about getting people back on campus?  To see the facilities?  The new buildings? So when you see them once what changes from weekend to weekend?  I'm there all the time for games and events.  What does that do for me other than I went to the event?  Really want to hear the reasoning for getting people "back on campus" on a Saturday afternoon.

The 'get the alumni back on campus' , I believe, is some sort of "oh yeah!" marketing spin. Let's face it, A majority of those who hold season tickets drive to RayJ - and as such - could just as easily drive to USF (should the opportunity arise). I honestly don't believe that distant alumni are not coming to Bulls football games simply because it's not on campus. They've had seventeen years to catch a game. And at some point, I'm sure it would occur to them to swing by Fowler avenue to check out what's new. I agree. Once you've eyeballed the new building and seen what's changed, it's not really a weekly motivation. We're here for the ball game. I just don't think that 'get alumni back to campus' is as much of a prime mover as some would believe.

Appreciate the thought that went into that.

15,000... That would require us to double our attendance to fill that bad boy up!

What if it only reportedly had 15,000 seats, but actually only seated 8,000?

We should only be thinking about an OCS once the following occurs:

1. We accept entry in a P5 conference (revenue)

2. The students show that they will actually show up to an on-campus event in force (need)

3. The team has some degree of success on the field that would warrant an OCS

Guys, until this happens its pointless to have this thread. An OCS should NOT be on anyone's radar at this point. To do so would show that administration has its priorities backwards and would be fiscally irresponsible.

Please kill this thread.

Kill this thread?

OCS threads are the lifeblood of TBP, you should know that by now.

You should also know that very rational posts like the one you just made will do nothing but fall on deaf ears in this forum.

What the hell is wrong with launching a 5 year fundrasing campaing?  Start the process now, start building it when some of the stuff in your post is in place.  It's not like it hurts anything.
