Good reasons, all. It also takes Genshaft letting him stay. But then, they pay anyway so why not keep him around? I'm reluctant to form too firm an opinion of the situation until the other shoe drops. I hope it's just a relatively minor bball violation, but the secret-holders make it sound much worse. It could just be rumor-mongering though.

The more I think about it, the more a Vegas incident makes sense.

At the time they looked lethargic, and I seem to recall someone saying they'd been out partying all night.

Probably hookers and blow involved, and what happened in Vegas maybe didn't stay in Vegas?

What is the point of announcing your retirement 18 months in advance?

  1. To get paid
  2. To officially surrender
  3. To come clean (been on retirement already)
  4. To save face (assuming there is a shoe to drop)
  5. Get something positive on the internets when people search his name

Now hold on here. We knew the retirement was imminant. We even knew that it was going to be during 2015. We just didnt know whent he official annoucement was going to come. I think a lot of us are putting too much into this right now.

LIES!  What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  The NCAA should know this.

BMM pretty much saved USF from getting bigger violations. How you ask? It was his reporting that had Heath defending the alegations from years ago. Woolard made sure or at least tried to clean up the hoops program.

An update and clairification....

You guys can believe me or not. I went to USF, graduated in 03 with a major in poli sci, lived in beta hall first year then Fontana. I love the bulls, have been to a ton of games since undergraduate and work at a small law firm in Tampa. I normally lurk, this is the first time I have info... And to be clear, I HATE UCif....

On to the news- talked to my buddy, here is some further background:

- there are indeed NCAA infractions being looked into for MBB, but they are nothing major.

- this put DW on the hot seat, but wasn't a fireable offense.

- the Disney school is indeed in talks w b12 but nothing is final yet.

- USF got wind because DW had an unofficial agreement with the Orlando School that we would be a package deal. The other day UCif called them and told them the deal was off, blaming it on the NCAA infractions.

- when BOT found out about the broken agreement + infractions + b12, they had enough with DW.

- this isn't out yet bc B12 and ucifers have kept it tightly under wraps. USF admin, now that they know, have no such obligation.

- there is more out there, but my friend doesn't know yet....

No offense, but I dearly hope you and your friend are completely wrong.

I won't believe it in full until Hem corroborates, but I must say, UCF "calling off the deal" because of NCAA infractions is laughable at best. They haven't exactly run a pristine program over there in Orlando.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
