Does Wulff still come if the niners go all the way? How much of an impact would a Superbowl winning coach have on recruitment?

It didn't really help Charlie Weiss

Really? They went from unranked on Scout to the #5, #11, and #2 classes with Weiss.

I'm thinking showing up at a recruits house with that big old super bowl ring on would have an impact.

Problem is, assuming the Niners do win the SB, they don't get the rings until MUCH later - months down the road, so that wouldn't help us in the short term.

I think USF and Kansas would make better parallels than USF and Notre Dame and or Florida...

I think using a coach fresh off a Super Bowl and not a decade removed with two ****** coaching jobs in between might be better too. If your argument is Weiss isn't getting any traction at Kansas from his NE days, I'd like to see how you separate out the Notre Dame and UF jobs to come to that conclusion. Whereas looking at ND the year before and the year after his arrival is pretty telling.

Fine, you're right JTrue.  I fully expect Wulff to come in and pull in top 15 recruiting classes like Charlie did at ND.  We do have a comparable 40ish recruiting ranking like ND did the year before he joined.

I didn't say that, but I did question your statement that being a Super Bowl coach didn't help Weiss at all. Unless you have something to back that up.

Other than ND and UF sucking with him, no.

It may help marginally, but waving a SB ring isn't going to convince someone to play somewhere.  It certainly wont hurt, but I'd say the effectiveness would be marginal.

This is a very strong hire.  Anyone who has learned from the Harbaughs and receives their praises is someone you can bet is going to be an asset to your team.  Those guys are fiercely competitive and their players buy in due to their intensity.  When things go good, you can see it on their faces.  Same when bad things happen.  You know they CARE.  That's the kind of guy young men want to follow and this guy bring more NFL experience in how to run drills, practices etc. and he did it with one of the most successful coaches in NFL history.  No other NFL coach has taken their team to the conference championship in their first three seasons.  That says something.

Love the hire, but we need the athletes or it will be all for naught.

While I don't share your optimism for the hire of Wulff, I certainly very much hope to be wrong. I couldn't have been more wrong about our DC pick (Bresnahan) who did a great job with the defense this year.
