The thing with Bench is that he is better runner than White, so I can see CWT bringing him in for certain situations.

Bench has -24 yards rushing on the year. not to mention a big bulky knee brace.

I'm almost interested to see what you have to say if White doesn't do any better than our other three have. Will that cause you to finally see that QB is not 80% of the offensive problems, or will you beat the drum even louder? Just rhetorical here, I know the answer.

I really hope White comes in and lights it up, but as it stands now I think the chips are stacked against ANY quarterback coming in and being successful. Especially a true freshman on a short week in a nationally televised game. I'm hoping he's the type if gamer that thrives on that type of pressure.

what would you say if he does do better? all you people blaming o-line and wr's will look foolish. all I'm looking for is someone who can complete 50% of his passes and score 1 TD a game. not asking for much. the other 3 couldn't manage that.

you do realize the guy leading 6-1 Houston is a true freshman, don't you? they both won state titles last year and are both from ft lauderdale.

The problem is that the o-line, wr's, and qb have all layed turds in the passing game this year. So, if the entire unit can be this bad, maybe the problem is some other variable in the equation...

Houston relaced their QB in game 2 with a true freshman. O'Korn now has 1900 yards passing, 65% completion percentage,19 TDs and 4 picks. His QB rating is 60 points higher. They are 6-1.

the previous QB who he replaced in game 2 had a 55% completion percentage. threw almost as many picks as TDs last year and lost 7 games. including a game to Texas state where he had 39% completion percentage and a terrible QB rating. he had a 35% completion percentage against Temple this year.

a simple change at QB is all it took.

So why can't you try to fix the one variable you have control over... and get a true freshman's feet wet in a season that more than likely means nothing more than experience for the younger guys for next year.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with playing him. I am saying that I don't expect a lot better play from the qb position. I am saying that there are other variables that we could change. Play calling and coaching come to mind. Not CWT, but o-line and wr coaching should be held accountable, unless of course there's simply not enough talent.

I remember when Steve Young played for the Bucs. A lot of folks back then thought he wasn't very good.

The knee brace is a good point for this game, if he's still wearing it ... The -24 yards this year is a just plain stupid argument.

how is that a stupid argument? if he was an effective runner then he wouldn't have -24 rushing on the year.

Just stop. A healthy Bench is a better runner than White. There are certain situations where he'd be better utilized than the pure pocket passer, White. That was the point BD was making ...

If Mike White plays much better on Thursday than our other 3 guys have, then besides being deliriously happy I will come here to eat crow. Hope you'll do the same.

By no means am I rooting against this kid, but he just doesn't have much help out there and it's a high pressure situation. My read is that CWT is letting him take his lumps and get some serious gametime experience, while also realizing that White can't be any worse than our other options. I think it's a smart coaching move...but one that will get us crushed on Thursday. And honestly--big picture--at this point I'm ok with that.

That includes sacks, so it really isn't an accurate number.

a true competitor will accept the challenge. if he can't handle pressure (ala Floyd) then he probably isn't the solution.

I'll tell you what if he doesn't complete at least 40% of his passes and doesn't have at least 1 score for us for every 2 scores(pick 6 or fumble for Td) for them then I will eat crow. that's all we were getting from the other guys BTW I have never said I know he is the asnwer only that I know the other guys aren't.

if he can just complete 50% of his passes and get us an offensive Td we are greatly improved.

BTW it won't get us anymore crushed with him than with any of the other guys.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
