^ Not the case at all Smazza; CJL moved away from playing UCF because there was no longer any upside to playing them after going 4-0. He moved on to adding FSU, Miami and UF to the schedule which was a great move. At the time we were head and shoulders above UCF...like comparing FBS v. FCS teams.

Unfortunately we have now been relegated to having to play them again to prove ourselves. Thanks Holtz and DW.

Head-to-head record is just as relevant as anything else that has been brought up, and it has more probative value.

Smazza, I don't know you, but I'm stunned you're a USF alum and/or fan.  BF98 nailed it on the head...scheduling the Big 3 was FAR MORE important than taking a step back to create some sort of rival game with UCF.  The fact that USF hit the skids after, and UCF scored with a backyard QB few wanted doesn't change the strategy, or make it wrong.

 

Will we pass UCF?  Who knows?  They have the upper hand now, but still, our worst team ever almost beat their best.  I'm not fretting that all is lost, or falling in love with GOL as you are.  Frankly, many UCF fans wanted to fire his a$$ before Bortles emerged and Storm Johnson transferred there. Let's see how long they support GOL once the losses start rising...especially if USF beats UCF this year (look for Knight meltdown & pitchfork city if that happens).
