That was a big joke.  Apparently he was signing something like a roster sheet or something.  USF could not send him an LOI, and just requested him to wait patiently.

If he ultimately lands at USF, you must expect he will eventually make an impact.  People have lauded his work ethic, and any player willing to sit and wait for a scholarship to be a Bull is alright in my book!

I forgot that we also had 3 players who are re-signs from the previous year, so I guess Williams probably won't get to play this year. I was looking forward to seeing him on the field.

He was at one point very heavily recruited by the big schools:

One of those Fab50 football sites originally had Carlton being recruited by all the big name schools.

This from the Georgia Grapevine back in June 2003:

Scott Kennedy of DawgPost.Com offers an update on Carlton Williams, the 6-3 200# SAFETY/ATH prospect from Valdosta (Valdosta), GA, who already has several ship offers on the table (from a couple of heavyweights too) and there are likely more ship offers on the way as several other colleges (including UGA) are keenly interested in this blue chipper. Carlton identifies his top 5 favorites; and hey, the Dawgs are one of those lucky five!! Read much more about Carlton and his current recruitment in TheInsiders.Com's South GA DB Has A Load Of Offers.

But, Carlton, evidently, was plagued by injuries during his senior year, and I guess some of the big name schools backed off.

Region 1 defensive player of the year: Carlton Williams

He's played through injuries, he's been tough. He had a great game against Cherokee. That's neat (he won defensive player of the year). ...

Vince Wilson a 5-9, 190-pound running back from Daytona Beach, Fla., has signed a scholarship agreement to play football at the University of North Carolina. Wilson was ranked among the top 50 athletes in the country by Rivals.com.

and what abut this Mike Greco kid i heard he run a 4.35 and has a killer arm i think he might be looking at usf we also might have an outside chance at Harrison Beck when all the smoke clears imagine that

don't be surprised by an early commitment from Carlton Hill.  We've been working some magic on this one.

Currently, Rivals lists Auburn and South Carolina as his top two choices.

Harrison Beck would be an outstanding snag with the amount of attention and offers he is receiving.

If I had my pick I would want Jonathan Garner  what he doesn't have in speed he makes it up  with a killer arm and accuracy  he compleated 60% of his  attempts .

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
