His high school team was the Syrupmakers? Awesome.

That's weird ... Cairo in GA is pronounced "Kay-ro", like Karo syrup, but not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Same with Albany, its pronounced Al-benny. Only Rome seems to be pronounced like everyone else does. Could be people in S. Ga are a little touched. From Butts county south.

EDIT: Here's an article on why names are pronounced differently in GA.

Don't forget Ay-dell (Adel) ..

Ga is FULL of crazy named places. Cumming, GA., Butts Co.  Five Forks Trick'em Rd. Buckhead. I had someone give me directions once and it included Five Forks Trick'em Road and I had to have them repeat it like 4 times before I figured out what they were saying.

Don't forget off GA 400, Settingdown Rd and Jot-em-down Rd.  Also Bug Scuffle Rd. in Hiawassee.  Shake Rag in Forsyth county,

Also, GA is the only state in the Union with cities named Cumming and Climax.  :D

I lived in Stone Mountain for a year when I was little. On top of pronouncing names a bit different, GA didn't get the memo re: the end of the Civil War.

Nope.  And it never will.

If you've gone this long, stay the course.
