Just thinking....I don't know that he would be considered necessarily important to USF sports, but he certainly made an impact on things concerning USF sports.  Joel Miller

Gotta add Brett McMurphy under that definition...

It's "Important People". Neither were important in any way to the program.

Although I understand the nature of what you're aiming for, both of them could, sadly, fall under "important people in USF Bulls sports history" per this definition:

im·por·tant (ibreve.gifm-pôrprime.giftnt)

adj.
1. Strongly affecting the course of events or the nature of things; significant

I'll go with Merriam-Webster:

im·por·tant\im-ˈpȯr-tənt, especially Southern & New England -tənt, -dənt\

adjective

1 : marked by or indicative of significant worth or consequence : valuable in content or relationship

Worth, value.

I don't think in most common use people refer to rapists or child molestors as important people in a society although they do have an effect or consequence on a society.

Pretty sure on most lists of the most important people of the 20th Century, you're going to find folks like Hitler. The important to TB sports list that inspired yours had Bill Parcels and Bo Jackson on it.

And you saw how little sense that made to people.

LOL .... true ... but now that I read the real definition of "important", I'm cool with it.

Feel free to nominate those "impactful" if you wish. I'd rather we identify those who made a positive difference than those pursuing personal revenge at the cost of the program. Again, we'd have to include a number of other failures as important too then.

We'll let the voters decide.

I have a slight bone to pick on this. What about John Allen, the first president at USF. His decision to focus on academics and reject athletics (initially) had a significant impact on the development of athletics at the university.  I've seen the original map where he scratched out the athletic district and wrote "Medical School".  I would consider him to be "important" in the history of USF Athletics.

Like I said, he can be nominated.

I just disagree that a guy like that could possibly overshadow people who made a favorable impact like Presidents Borkowski, Castor and Genshaft.

In that case there are a number of bad guys that are important. We're not writing a history book but instead discussing those that put us where we are even if we did arrive a little late.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
