He should have come here originally instead Skip decided he'd rather take his guy (Gunsby) the first of many gaffes by Skip in QB recruiting. While I wouldn't mind if he camr back home (if we dont get Trickett he'd be the best QB on the roster even after a year at WR and could probably get a hardship of some kind) I dont really want him at the same time.

WOOT WOOT I just get so dam excited when someone actually gets the history correct and doesn't try to re-write it.  Good job man. Skip screwed the pooch on this one.

Yeah, except this is a perfect example of history being re-written.  For starters, Carnes would have been at Nebraska regardless.  He was only a USF recruit because he did not have an offer in hand from Nebraska.  We needed a QB and had to lock down Gunsby because Leavitt left the cupboard bare.  Finally, Carnes isn't a good QB anyway.

Except for all the facts, you are completely accurate.

I could have sworn his scholly was pulled due to grades or test scores and that caused the ruckus with Manatee that Taggart is now rebuilding a relationship

Try again Data - nice re-write but so far from what actually happened.  Skip wanted someone else - end of story.  Gunsby was his guy.  Carnes was coming here before Leavitt left and was still willing to until Skip put the kabosh on it.  Would he have developed into a good QB here ?  That is debatable but doesn't seem like it.

Isn't Tommie Frazier his cousin? I figured he was Nebraska bound from the get go and USF was a place holder until his offer came through (which it did after a visit the USF staff asked him not to take).

1. Unless you are actually Brion Carnes you do NOT know exactly what happened.

2. I heard that Skip told him not to take any other trips, but he did.

2. a: I am not Brion Carnes so I don't know what happend, just the same as you.

3. It doesn't F'ing matter. Skip is gone, get over it, move forward. #Do something other than whining about the past!

Not according to those that want to blame Holtz for everything including the plague and locust infestation.

Well, we all know thats ridiculous. Holtz couldn't have done that, he was busy causing global warming at the time.

If Carnes was really coming here, he wouldn't have been still dicking around with Nebraska and WKU. Skip was dealing with a "commit" that had committed to a coach that was no longer there and wouldn't confirm, still talking to an historical BCS school where his cousin was a legend and to a school coached by a legend from his high school. Anyone with an ounce of sense saw the writing on the wall and Skip was already behind the 8 ball because of the late start and needed a quarterback for that class .... sadly, the qb sucked ... but it wasn't like he had the luxury of picking between the two.

I can just see it now:

"So what exactly would you say ... ya do here? Hmm?"

"Well, my job is to take the snap from the center and deliver the ball to the QB."

"Hmm ... Well, why can't the QB just take the snap directly from the center himself?"

"I'm a ball handling person ... Can't you guys see that? What is wrong with you people? I have ball handling skills!"

:D

One of the great all-time movies!

I even use this scene in class - usually when doing HR.

I use the interview scene from Step Brothers when teaching HR...I wish.

Per GA, Carnes will be going the I-AA route so that he can play immediately.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
