Metro Conference as new conference name wouldn't work because the elimination games before the big conference championship game would be called metro sectionals and that'd sound stupid.

I remember at one point the basketball teams were split into three divisions at one point - red, white & blue. Can you say: gay, gayer and gayest? I fear that the brainbust that would end up running a conference called America 12 would follow that same pattern. Plus America 12 sounds too jingoistic - hyper "patriotism", excessive flag waving and chest thumping.
