War Eagle, cool. It says American, tough, talons, predator of the sky, picturesque scream, piercing attack.

War Flamingo belongs somewhere like South Beach. It says we're pink, skinny little birds that posture on stick legs and preen for onlookers. Prey. Useless except for pretty looks. Yeah they're very Florida, but so are a host of more appropriate mascots.

War Flamingo was kinda funny and creative at the time, but I happen to think it's going too far to honestly integrate it... unless we want to send the above message... which seems more appropriate for the International Academy of Design or something.

That's it!  I think you nailed it!  The lack of acceptance of "War Flamingo" is 100% to blame for the entire downfall of USF athletics over the last few years.  Also probably why we have been squeezed

Seriously can't understand how this isn't a mainstay in our football program.  I am all for War Flamingo and I actually find it pretty sad its not pushed more by our fans.  One of our few claims to a tradition what do you guys think?

So is a duck riding a motorcycle. And a tree with googly eyes. And yelling "hotty toddy". 

 

College football is full of dumb, strange things. Embrace the stupid. Leave the serious, corporate feel to the NFL.

I think you should go ahead and get the ass tattoo, that way we can count it as part of the hundred, You just have to promise you won't show it off.

I'm all about embracing the stupid, but the above is far better than a dumb, pink, wimpy, stinky bird that stands on one leg most of the time.  

 

It was great for the Auburn game, but that was 5 1/2 years ago - if it hasn't carried over by now, it's not going to - just fuhgeddaboudit.
