Scott is a big national recruiter and a huge asset to USF. Named a top 50 recruiter this year. If we want to be great, and not just talk about being great, we needed to keep him and that's exactly what we did. Love it.

What the hell are you taking about? He went and interviewed and we kept him. A top 50 recruiter is bound to get some calls.

You're right. That's why they approached him, and shortly after FSU approached him as well. It couldn't poooooooooossibly be that USF ponied up the extra cash to keep him home. There's no way that's in the realm of possibilities.

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be in Miami's hiring pitch. "Hey we can pay you 300k per year...after 4 years since we're about to get the death penalty. But if you don't take the job, don't tell anyone since we heard you're pretty good at recruiting!"

Scott got some additional compensation and a possible upgrade in job function out of this.  Can't say for certain that UM or FSU would have taken him in the end, but USF worked out a deal to keep him before it got too far.  Good move by USF, imo.  Scott's been here since the begining.
