On Sunday Bulls247 got confirmation that USF landed it’s second commitment of the weekend. Miami (Fla.) four-star defensive back Lamar Robbins informed the staff he was committing.

Robbins, a 6-foot-3, 188-pound prospect shines on both sides of the ball for Southridge high school. Robbins is ranked as the 14th best athlete, 35th best player in Florida and he’s ranked as the 237th best overall recruit in the country.

Robbins is an explosive receiver and a rangy safety prospect, that has the versatility to play nearly every position in the defensive backfield. Robbins still needs to add weight to his 6-3 frame, but overall he’s a huge pickup for Willie Taggart and the new USF staff.

We’ll have more with Robbins later in the day.

He has amazing size at 6'4 (something we lack in the secondary), great speed, hands, and coverage skills. The only thing he needs is to add some weight or he might get hurt at the college level (dude is super lanky). I think he has a chance to play immediately as either a 3rd CB or a SS with some time in the weight room.

I can imagine one on one coverage a possibility and with his size and speed pick six.

If he signs that will be a huge pickup. As much as we need QBs and RBs, we also need better secondary.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
