Our fans, me included are too spoiled now to not have a nice stadium with chairbacks, amenities and ample parking for tailgaiting ect...    If we built a tin box like UCif I would expect season ticket sales to drop.

You might have an increase in students for some games but you would lose those who have no affilation to the school other than liking Football and supporting the school( there are more of those than you think). The Students is hit or miss, If there is a break, or a parade or something else going on than they may continue to make excuses as to why they cant attend the game.

Look at the excuses for this weeks BB game vs Notre Dame(Gasparilla).

If we build an OCS they would need to build with Chairbacks, club seating, suites,  ect... It would cost over 100 million to do it on the cheap.  The One at Yale could be done(build it into the ground) use less steel to construct. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yale_Bowl

Build into the ground? In Florida? There is a good reason they don't have basements in Florida. Think about it.

Federal regulations are pretty clear on the topic of an OCS.

"There is to be no planning - other than on the back of a standard  3" x 3" cocktail napkin -

for an OCS occupied by any team(s) not in the Power-5 Conferences or for teams that,

once having had BCS standing, now find themselves with their collective nose against the glass.

This also applies to any school with less that two conference wins in the previous two playing

seasons. A waiver can be granted should that school opt for Division I status."

18 U.S. Code, Chapter 47, Section 1041, para (a) 1.

Cost is a major factor....Up north the footings for homes need to be below the frostline, so digging the extra few feet for a basement is a cost effective way to provide storage and living space....not so in Florida.   There are homes in Florida with basements.

Florida Field (BHGS) is built into the ground.  Those with field level seats walk into the stadium and go downstairs a pretty good ways to get to the field.

On the other hand, however, not sure that this would be as doable in Tampa as it is in Gainesville.

Slick and those who think it cant be done need to do a little research. The Swamp is built like this as well

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Hill_Griffin_Stadium

" Construction began on April 16, 1930, and immediately faced serious engineering and geotechnical obstacles related to natural ground water and drainage.[9] The stadium was built in a shallow ravine, and the lower thirty-two rows of the east, west and north stands were built below ground level of the surrounding land.[9] When excavation reached the water table, water began to pour into the construction site from the north end, and men, mules and mule-drawn equipment became mired in the resulting mud.[9] The drainage challenge was ultimately resolved by the installation of massive underground culverts leading to Graham Pond, two blocks south of the stadium site.[9] Problems solved"

We dont use Mules now, so it would be much eaiser than it was in 1930.

There are lots lot homes with basements in FLa now as well. Things have changed since you left FLA in the 1800's http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1997-11-09/news/9711080618_1_basements-jene-storage

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
