I shouldn't have **** on the band like that (not sure what the f*ck was going on in my head when I posted the last part of the comment). I actually have always enjoyed the work of our band. Jim was kinda football crazy first and would comment how everything else was just a side show to the product on the field (you should hear his thoughts on homecoming back in the day). He could have softened his stance with age... who knows... Sorry for the disparaging comments to the band members. I realize you folks put a ton of hours in just like we did. The next beer is on me if I ever get back to Tampa. The current significant other has control of my wallet in attempt to financially smarten me up. No more Vegas trips chasing women, etc...

Congrats man, hope she turns out to be the ONE!

Really never cared too much about learning the fight song - and honestly, I still don't. Leavitt never considered it important - something we both agreed upon. Who needs a fight song anyways? Just win and leave the kumbya mumbo jumbo to the band.

it is all about winning

had usf emphasized winning from day one maybe things would have been different

yes, that georgetown win was awful, soooooo boring. And please who really cares about going to the tourney? And those gawd awful games against Cincy back in the day when I could hardly get to my seat because I was falling over asleep, good thing there were huge crowds there to keep me standing upright. And beating FSU, Auburn and West Virginia in football? I had to have someone wake me up when it was over. i do remember I woke up for a couple of minutes during a Louisville game. it was one of the most horrendous events I've ever been to, the game went to triple overtime! You are so right, sitting out there in LA, I am sure you know just about everything there is to know about the atmosphere at the games.

Since there was no announcement I can only assume that when their band starting playing the fans stood up and started singing.  I can even live with the PA guy announcing it but, for the love of God, let the band play and the fans sing it at a normal tempo.  It it just so ridiculous the way it is.  I do know the words (maybe the only thing the Holtz New Era was good for).  But for the life of me I can't figure out at what pace to sing them.  And then the band plays it as they are about to tip off and usually don't finish it.  Just crazy.

The tempo that the fight song is sung drives me nuts. Is it possible that the pep band speeds up the cadence, just to mess with people? It makes it difficult to sing along, and I actually know the words to the fight song. Imagine what it's like for people that need to get caught up to speed.

No worries--I'll buy the second round!

True, it was never such an overriding priority, above all else, that USF was prepared to lie, cheat, and steal in order to win.

After all, we ARE an "Academic Institution" as we were so often told by our leaders.

Hell, we had to wait for John Lott Brown to DIE before getting football. His retirement wasn't enough, he had to pass on.

We are now attempting to make the move from mid-major to big-time college athletics.

It's a process, not an event, and I for one am looking forward to watching it play out over the next decade
