And if you have plans on trying to go pro, I'd much rather go to a pro style offense than a gimmick spread style

plans on trying to go pro? Looks like Russell wilson, kapernick, and rg 3 just said you can run a gimmick offense and be big time in nfl. Nfl scouts dont care what kind of offense you ran in college. They will evaluate your skills in workouts. Alabama wins National championships and until this year they havent had a qb who was noticable. So kids want to put up big numbers. Big numbers gets attention. Your gimmick offenses are just as easy to get to the next level as a anything else.

Yes they have had success in the NFL, but it's only been one year. Remember Michael Vick when he first came out? He was a sensation. Big arm, big speed, but eventually the league caught up to him and he broke down among other things. Remember the wild cat? It was all the rage years ago and it has died down too. If these need breed qb's have sustained success in the NFL great, but I don't think they will The read option was successful this year because team's were not ready for it. Just like the wildcat. RGIII is already broken. Wilson, while a very good qb, won with a great running game and defense. Kapernick is a very good qb overall. Nothing negative to say about him really. In the end, pro style qb's will generally always be more successful than hybrid qb's.

Another thing about the different style of offenses. If you run a pro style offense in college, you will be more adept to the NFL game than someone who runs the spread option out of the shotgun. A lot of qb's struggle with that transition in the NFL.

Ken Stabler & Joe Namath ring a bell?  Yes, I know that's a 100 years ago.

You're right that the NFL will find talent wherever it is. But my point is that there's a selling point that this offense will be like an NFL one.

Very few pro offenses run to set up the pass anymore, it is generally the other away around.

Our offensive line is going to be massive. The big Uglies love to run the FB they get to hit people rather than drop and get hit. If you do it well, it is very effective(see SB teams). Kid of a ringing endorsement of the Harbaugh style wouldn't you say?
