I have NFL Rewind and will go back and look at what the Raiders defense looked like last season (NFL Rewind goes back a few years). But I just read o another board that a long term Raider's fan characterized his schemes as four man rush with no blitzes, strict man to man coverage, and being unable to stop the run. If that is true, USF will need excellent players all over the field for it to work. BTW, NFL Rewind is pretty cheap, has several seasons of games as well as most of the Super Bowls. You can watch in that accelerated mode that only shows the plays or coaches mode with all the angles coaches use. It should be like $30 or $40, or maybe less.

I don't think we can assume he will run the same defense he ran with Raiders in the NFL. Greg Auman's interview with Hunley indicated that he adapts his defenses to his players' strengths and his opponents' weaknesses.

I hope he's so good there is talk of him taking over the Eagles by the end of the year.

I bet Cooper will help him adapt his schemes to the college game. I feel a lot better about Bresnahan knowing Cooper will also be around. We won't know how well it works until the fall but I'm optimistic. Really can't get much worse than it was with Cosh.

Yes, it can. No wins, most blow outs. Watch a Tulane or Memphis game.

I appreciate your sunny assessment, slick. If you think we won't win a game next year and will become just another Memphis or Tulane I suggest you put that in writing and we'll see who's closer to reality this time next year. Otherwise, this is just chicken-little alarmism, IMHO.

That's not what I said at all. Someone (you) said the defense couldn't be worse than Cosh's. Well yeah, there is plenty of room for it to be worse. I am not saying it will be. But USF was in games under Cosh, people act like every loss was a 50 burger, when it wasn't.

OK. I stand corrected. In theory, it CAN get worse than Cosh. But how LIKELY is it that it will be worse? I think it highly unlikely.

You mind stalking someone else? Last I checked, I was allowed my own opinions. They don't always jive with others. Could USF's defense be worse that Cosh's? HELL YES!  Will it be? Probably, hopefully, NOT. Find someone else to stalk.

Well, coaching may be better but the best DT, CB.  and two of the better LBs are gone along with Lejiste at safety. So a number of starters, some are multi year starters are gone. Will have to see if the back ups can step in and step up.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
