free story on why he didn't stay:

tell rivals it's spelled Taggart.

It was a quote.  Maybe the guys at Rivals knew that Weiner had it misspelled subconsciously when he spoke it at the time.  Perhaps they should have written "...Taggert (sic)."

For anyone interested. Weiner has a presser on BHSN at 3 or 3:30 according to 98.7

I don't get the significance.

------------

Maybe he's changed his mind again ...

Why does he need a press conference to announce he's staying at Plant?

Ego stroke... and to make up for having a small "Weiner".

I for one am glad that there are so many perfect people on TBP that have never done anything less than perfectly.

Probably to counter the one that said he's leaving.

What a waste of time. What we all expected. Didn't want to leave Plant. Duh.

maybe its different in coaching, but in my line of work (commercial banking), once you say you are leaving a job, you go. if you "unquit" or accept a counter offer you become "marked" because management thinks you are always looking for a better gig.

Only if you leveraged your new job against your current job.  Plus what would Weiner get marked against.  Plant would never fire him and he's not going to another high school.

If anything this would probably dissuade another college from going after him, but I genuinely believe he's content where he is.  I really liked the recruiting implications of having him on the staff.  I hope he really did respect Taggert that well and helps get a few more guys to USF.  Time will tell.

Mviusa, you joke about that...but you'd be surprised at how powerful and connected that South Tampa community is. It wouldn't shock me at all to hear that they played a role in bringing him back. That area has no love for USF.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I wasn't joking!!!

sorry but south tampa people that are influential don't send their kids to plant.

WRONG. I lived across the street from that HS while I was living in Palma Ceia, there's a reason they have a 7 million dollar football stadium (donated by 2 donors at 3.5million a piece). Granted, some send their kids to Berkley Prep and some also went to Tampa Catholic or Academy of Holy Names but a majority of the heavy hitters in the ST area send their kids to Plant. Why? Becuase it's where they went, as did their parents, as did theirs, etc.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
