No more retreads looking to be semi-retired on active duty. I want a young coach hungry and looking to make a name for himself. Durkin fits the bill. He's highly regarded and worked under Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh. If it's not Durkin then somebody like him.

I wasn't totally sold on Shannon either, because I had heard a lot of the same things discussed on this thread from my brother in law who is an avid Cane fan.

If you look at CWTs coaching hires so far, they all are young, Wells, Sheridan, Scott and I guess Woodie is the oldest. Even the new strength coach is 32. Big contrast from Skippy where we had, Shankweiler, Smith, Voss (the Sun City Center gang) and even Cosh and Fitch where both getting up there.

I don't underestimate the need for experience on the defensive side, however we need hungry driven coaches. That was what I liked most about CJL and that is what we need to start our climb back up the mountain.

I want someone who's going to coach our boys to smack the pi$$ out of opponent, to coach them to win games etc....I'm biased, I had tickets in Tally when Amato said that his defense hit till the echo of the whistle. FSU ran a man-press hard hitting, agressive defense. The other team's QB must go down and he must go down hard, just win baby!

If he still has the fire for the game, including recruiting, then I'm okay with the hire. If wants to put his career on auto pilot and ride out his remaining coaching years in Florida, the I'm not okay with it.

In CWT we must trust!

Do we really want a DC that let UCF score 56 points on them this year and let Morgan State score 66 points?

This is dreadful...

Im not trying to argue, and I will support who ever CWT hires. Using that exact logic, do we want a DC that was on a defensive staff that let UL score 33?

Wow! Those are awful stats. Thanks for sharing. This guy has been hanging out in Ohio with one of the Bowden boys and wants to come back to sunny Florida.

No thanks, I'll pass.

Cosh held UL to 27. Do we really want a guy with better athletes that gave up 33?

That was one game and a bowl game none the less. Hard to read to much in to it. There is a body of work over the rest of the season that needs to considered. Plus he ran the special teams for the Gators as well. They're punter and kicker are tops in the nation.

I don't have blinders on with Durkin. I just don't want any old retreads.
