I figured DC at USF is a quicker move to a good HC job than LBs at Ark...... Guess I was wrong.

His goal might not be a HC job. He might want to end up an SEC DC. Less stress but still good pay and prestige. Hell, he might be after Kirby Smart's job since rumor has it Saban will be leaving in a few years leaving Smart as his successor. It'd be a logical progression for him in the next 2-3 years whether he took the USF job or the Arky job. He made a smart move. He probably bid his value up pitting the two schools against one another and now he likely got a huge raise to do the same thing. He'll get paid more and face less scrutiny than at the USF job and end up a SEC DC with less work.

In short, we needed him more than he needed us.

Why does anyone think he was offered the USF job?

Good point although Auman and others have suggested that Shannon was interested and it's hard to believe we wouldn't at least try to bring him in assuming that interest was genuine.

This guy has ties to Holtz. No thanks.

People over at ECU credit much of their success to him.. Shouldn't punish someone for who their boss was..

I read somewhere that we're going after Strong when L'ville fires him ...

Good to know, that "I read somewhere" is adequate sourcing. It will be so much easier than providing those pesky links.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
