Is waverly playing much?

About 16 minutes a game. 5ppg, 4rbp, 1bpg

Watched him play against Cincy last week and wasn't too impressed ... didn't even play the 2nd half, but Oregon didn't play any of their big men that game very much so it probably wasn't a good sample. What Austin would have done here was allow the others to play their normal positions more instead of time at center.

Exactly

Austin is basically a healthy version of Rivas Sanchez. A very good serviceable Big Man, not some Super Star player.

I'm pretty sure Waverly Austin is much more talented than Alex Rivas-Sanchez. If I'm not mistaken, Rivas-Sanchez was a last minute JuCo recruit, whereas Austin was a JuCo All-American. Kore White has been thrust into a role that just doesn't suit him; Austin was supposed to be our Center with White providing some servicable minutes. Needless to say, our team just doesn't rebound or box out well at all.

Don't waste your time with Vega. I put in plain English with #s what Austin's affect could have been for us. He'll always be who he is.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
