The beauty of the pro style is you can throw, you can run, you can smash mouth, you can finesse. You don't have to have HUGE corn fed boys. You can teach technique. No, we can't recruit Bama talent, but we don't play Bama talent!! How do you know we can't recruit big linemen? Do you know how many we've tried to recruit? If so, can you please name at least 5?

The NFL is setting all type of new passing records. Its hardly smash mouth. UCONN was primary run team...and they were like a mediocre big east team. We would be medicore with it. The fact is...we have had PISS POOR version of the spread with no real concept in passing. If you think we have come anywhere near a true spread air attack you have not watched much football. WVU would have won the big east this year with that offense there is no question. There defense is pitiful but they would not have been outscored by any team nor stpped. DHolgorsen is a great spread coach. Came from TEXAS TECH originally with mike leach, you probably didnt know that. Then Oklahoma st...He was Offensive coordinator for both..then wvu..and now head coach. Im sure you dont see the pattern of success running the spread with these coaches at three different schools. Every school he has touched has excellled in the top of college football. You think we have had coaches who teach this type of spread??????? You are crazy. We can do it. I know we can. Its the only chance we have. With a subpar defense we can win.

In my humble opinion it would be foolish to completely abandon the spread offense. You have to look at where USF's talent lies. The team as currently composes was recruited generally speaking as a spread offense. You're looking at a couple recruiting cycles needed to convert to a different system. We also have no Darrell Scott type backs to institute a power running game. We have basically no running backs, at least any proven ones. Out talent is at the WR position. You have to get the ball in the hands of your playmakers and tailor the offense to your skills. It's personnel that wins games and not systems. And right now our best talent is skilled position players (WR's and TE's). If you completely abandon spread you are looking at 2 more 3 win seasons.

This leads me to another point, Skip left the cupboard bare at the RB and QB position. We need a recruiting madman as a HC, or we're going nowhere anyway for the next couple years.

WVU and Cincy had no problems running the spread and winning BE titles and going to BCS bowls. No reason USF can't do what WVU did (and by the way, get out of the Big Least in the process).
