in the first round of NIT action. WMU over Marquette; i'm surprised noone has posted anything about this considering that the RMC's old WMU team went dancing last year and is making a splash in the NIT this year.

And they were the fourth-best team left out of the tourney from the MAC... so look out for Miami, Kent, and Buffalo. We're pissed about only getting a single bid, so expect to see at least one of them in MSG.

Would those be with RMC's recruits too?  Can't be, you know they say he can't recruit   ;)

FWIW, his old team beat VPI this year, too .......  8)

And those were the recruits he was able to lure to lovely K-zoo, Michigan to play in the oh so stellar MAC conference (sorry bobcat).  ;)

People at WMU were really sad to see RMC go; i honestly think we may have the "right coach at the right time."

Go Bulls!

Marquette wasn't the same team after Diener got hurt, losing 9 of their last 14.

If USF wanted a guy who could recruit the MAC conference, McCullum is definately the one we want...

And the game wasn't as close as the score indicated.  It was a defensive struggle and WMU led most of the game.   Surprisingly, Marquette still has basketball players, and played decent defense.  The lack of ball handlers hurt, but WMU clearly out-matched them.

I agree in that Marquette is not the same team without Diener. I believe Marquette went 1-3 during Diener's absense. I know the current USF team could beat Marquette if they were to play against each other right now. Hell, it was Diener that saved Marquette when USF had them on the road in their home arena this season. Also, WMU's Coach Hawkins was one of McCullum's assistants that stayed back at WMU to take the head coaching job. Now, WMU's current coach will get a lot of looks from higher basketball programs.

I totally agree. Bruce Webber did some amazing things with the Salukis of SIU, and now he's coaching the number one team in the country. We're putting RMC in a much better situation to recruit than he had with WMU in the MAC conference. If he was able to compile competitive teams with the resources he had at WMU, then imagine what he can do when USF athletics starts pumping more money into all departments as a result of our Big East affiliation. RMC was able to do a lot with very little;it'll be interesting to see what he can do when he has a little more. If Bruce Webber could do it, then why not RMC?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
