Really? How so? Please expand on that with specifics.

PS...In 2010 Clemson was 4-4 in the ACC and ended the year 6-7. Hardly impressive.

Leavitt had peaked.... we weren't going to get any higher with him here.

We also weren't going any lower.

Valid point... I wasn't trying to support the current staff with my statement... I just don't believe that Leavitt was the long term answer.

That's just your uinformed opinion. Please give us some stats, someone with some college football knowledge. According to you Leavitt should have easily won a NC for USF.

What? Now you're starting to sound an awful lot like Mizzou... or whatever his name wasl. Look... I never said Leavitt should have won a NC here... but I still don't think he was going to get us much farther.

what was his Big East record, I believe it was under .500

25-26 with Conference USA talent.

Anyone who thinks you can go from zero and nothing in a few short years then suddenly dominate a Div. 1 conference is simply delusional.

tell that to cincy and louisville

Cincy started playing football in 1885. Played in major bowls as far back as the 40's.

Louisville started playing football in 1912, Played in major bowls as far back as the 50's and were on a 7 year bowl run and had a 20-5 record the previous 2 years before joining the Big East.

I hardly call that even remotely an apple to apples comparison.

Neither team was that far ahead of us when we left CUSA. FAMU has been playing a long time as well. With that logic maybe Holtz is doing a good job, Ball State and Rutgers have played longer than USF And should be better.

Not disagreeing there. Just wish he had the money to use for assistant coaches.

Louisville was most certainly that far ahead of us at that time.

Louisville was ranked, but our first Big East game we smoked them, and I believe played them pretty equally. **** neither team lost a home game vs the other until very recently.

They were that far ahead of us. Beat us by like 40 in 2004.

Leavitt game planned perfectly in that 2005 game.

Funny how the argument has changed in three years from "we should be doing better" to the "old regime would have done worse" Sounds eerily like a major campaign going on right now.

Did you completely gloss over the second part of the Louisville sentence? They were on a 7 year bowl run in CUSA dating back to 1998 with an overall record of 52-22 including an 11-1 (8-0) season in 2004. Care to remember how we fared in 2004?

And thats completely ignoring their history which includes impressive runs under Lee Corso in the 70s (28-11-3) including a Pasadena Bowl trip, and a run under Howard Schnellenberger in the mid 80s-mid 90s that included a Fiesta Bowl victory over Alabama.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
