You need to listen to the presser. He didn't separate himself at all ... In fact, just before that question he was talking about how "we" went up there 4 years ago and "we" won 17-7 ....

.... and as far as the quote in question is concerned, there was a "but" following the "won 6 games that year" as part of his thought process. Basically, he was answering the unasked question as to how a win over a team that lost 6 games was great and the "but" was followed by explaining how it was great because it was over a geographical rival ... but he also spent a little too much time saying how great it will be having a geographical rival in the New Big East.
