It's a problem we've had seemingly forever .... building depth... and will probably continue to have until our program hits a higher level. Kids don't mind sitting for couple of years at established programs but not so much here.

d Hawkins hopefully will develop (talented, but in my opinion needs work and a faster tempo to succeed) and you have 6 underclassmen that should contribute - building DEPTH. GO BULLS!

Hawkins is transferring. No link because nothing is official, but that is straight from Javontes mouth, and confirmed by another player on the team that I am friends with.

Is it a matter of homesickness? If you're at liberty to explain the "why," I'd love to hear it.

I didn't hear Hawkins give a reason but I was talking to my friend on the team and said "oh yeah, I heard Hawkins may be transferring". And he responded saying its basically definite and he's home sick and wasn't happy with how his play time dropped at the end of the season. We'll see if it works out like that.

Wow. I hope he's already told Heath, 'cause if he hadn't, he might find the transfer paperwork inexplicably delayed or some such...

I know if I was Coach, I'd hate to hear about it secondhand

That's a shame, I thought he got a lot of playing time for a freshman and showed a ton of potential. Would only think he'd get MORE playing time next year with LeDay.

That simply not a true statement. Guys transferring has been a ongoing problem for a few years and it has nothing to do with what the school's name is or how prestigious. Guys are just not being patient and probably to many people are in their ear telling them that they deserve something not earned through practice and hard work. I listed this article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/luke_winn/07/18/up-transfers-NCAA-basketball/index.html last year that talked about this subject. It's a really good read.

I'm going to assume that the bolded ones there are what you think that I would consider an "established program" and to be honest, I'm not really sure what the exact criteria would be, but I guaran-****-tee you that Rutgers and UCF would not fall under it ... Maybe "high profile" would be better, and there are some on that list that would fall under that, but the vast majority wouldn't ... and that article was a good read but I'd like to see more info on kids "down transferring" to get more playing time.

Demetrius said the single most important factor in making his decision is playing time. I think he could see some good playing time at USF

I think that's my least favorite reason I see for a kid choosing a school ... Even when it does work in our favor.

Yeah he actually had a two part question but broke it down. The question was originally what was more important playing time, winning, or both. He values a lot of playing time(30 minutes per) over winning and less playing time.

It was broke down like this. The team with the best chance of winning next season is by far USF with what they have returning and the incoming class of Egbunu, Perry, Zeigler, Clayton, and Heath.  Miami has a major rebuilding project ahead after losing so many upperclassmen and very likely Shane Larkin. South Carolina is a long ways from contending in the SEC.

I know the coaches of the other two schools are beating Henry over the head that USF has Egbunu and Perry and he won't get the touches and PT at USF that USC and Miami can give him. In reality if Henry were to play for the Bulls, Perry and Egbunu will share time at center, while Henry and LeDay play PF and some SF which gives both guys plenty of minutes. Also out of all the front court Bigs, Henry will get the most touches because he is far more advance offensively then Egbunu and Perry. I can easily see Henry as the second leading scorer on USF next season behind Rudd.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
