Team Breakdown Forward sees offer list grow

One of the top fifth year talents, who has made the move into the Class of 2013, 6-8 Demetrius Henry has been stellar at times this summer, and has seen his offer list continue to grow.

When Demetrius Henry decide to re-classify, and attend Brandon, FL Faith Baptist School this fall, it was based on the opportunity to add physical strength and continue to build his skill set on the perimeter according to his Summer & High school coach Kenny Gillion.

“He is completely qualified academically, however we would like him to mature more,†Coach Gillion told XOFan at the time. “Get stronger, so he can be an immediate impact at any school he picks.â€

And according to Coach Gillion he has made huge progress this summer and is on the path to attaining that goal.

“He has become a versatile forward that can score and defend the post,†Coach Gillion told us today. “Plus he can defend on the perimeter too!â€

“He has a high Basketball I.Q. that allows him to read defenses, and pass out of double teams,†Coach Gillion continued. “Plus take good angles on the defensive end.â€

We concur with Coach Gillion as Henry has really started to assert himself around the hoop, taking it to opponents and scoring versus contact. Plus he is one of the top help side defenders we observed this summer. He impressed us with his ability to come out of nowhere to swat shots on defense or sneak along the baseline to thunder the alley-oop with highlight level thunder! He can pop and take bigs off the dribble from 15-17 feet and showed he can knock it down if left alone on elbow.

He is fast becoming that impact face-up four man that, both Henry and Gillion invisioned when he decided to re-classify. Due to his jhigh level of play this summer, he has see his offer list grow as Coach Gillion tells XOfan.

“He just received offers from Alabama and Auburn today,†Gillion said. “He also has offers from Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Tennessee, Miami (FL), Kansas State, Illinois, USC, Rutgers, South Carolina, St. Joseph’s, Murray State, and Memphis.â€

According to Coach Gillion, he will set a time table to cut down his list in the near future, stay tuned for that decision. As he moves toward making his college decision we will continue to follow his recruiting right here at XOFan.com

Do we have some sort of connection to Faith Baptist? When we thought Omogbehin wouldn't be able to get in to USF initially, we "placed" him at Faith before he finally was able to get in.

He would be a huge get for USF and one they are desperate for at this point.

2013 Forward Demetrius Henry has now grown to 6'10. This guy possesses some guard skills, which could be essential with his size

Visit Clemson last week and will be visiting Rutgers this week. Henry said the Clemson experience graded out as a "10" perfect trip.

Henry has said that he'll wait until the spring top sign but he has been hinting lately that is not a guarantee anymore. He could still sign with some school this fall.

Had a GREAT time at Rutgers

Well all I have to say is good for him. Also like with Chris Perry, I would be stunned if a Florida kid that USF has love for and vice versa doesn't end up with them.

We are not talking about top tier BE program or head coach. In fact someone maybe should let Henry know that Mike Rice is on the HOT SEAT and if Rutgers finishes near the bottom of the league for a 3rd straight year, coach Rice might be outta there. His act of swearing, spitting, and sweating grows old fast, especially if you are not winning. Rice has gotten talent to Rutgers but he sure hasn't been able to do much with thus far.
