Yep.  And now Denson is taking an OV to Miami.  Interesting times.

 

Kirkland will sign with UM.

That's my guess, but people said the same about Todd Chandler & Elkino Watson, 4 stars in Dade Co.  But they signed with USF.  I don't know if the impending sanctions sway the kids who grew up watching & loving the Canes, but it may nudge a few over the fence.  I'd think UM would some closure on the topic, just so the unknown is killed.  UM getting OC Coley is likely a boon, as well. 

 

We've scored some good OL this season, but he seems like he'd be a good add to our class.

 

P.S.  Good call on the funny FSU probability goof...guess the Garnett & Gold see 45% as "worst case".

 

 

 

Here's the thing.  I'm not saying you didn't do a good job of recruiting with Chandler and Watson.  I'm just pointing out that those weren't exactly the same kinds of situations where UM was recruiting a kid hard, all along, and with no complicating factors.

 

Todd Chandler was an early commit for UM, but something came up, and we parted ways.  It was what, 6 or 8 months before USF got a verbal from him?  It's not like we were recruiting head-to-head down to the wire for Chandler.

 

As for Watson, we weren't even offering him early (regardless of the final star ranking).  A few months before NSD, he didn't even have an offer from UM.  Yes, we jumped on him late, even got him to visit, but I can certainly understand why a kid ranked that high might not swoon over the late attention.  Again, not a 1-2 year head-to-head/down to the wire recruiting competition.

 

And you used to have Kevin Patrick as a coach.

 

Stay on these kids.  Recruit to the echo of the whistle.  You never know what can happen (see, generally, the recruitment of Kellen Winslow and/or Seantrel Henderson).  But try to be rational and realistic too.

 

Best of luck on NSD.  Especially if "no chance at all" = 45%.
