He supposedly will have to sit out this year after transferring.

Probably a great thing for this guy. A year with Hovan and he's gonna look like an NFL nose tackle. The conditioning he is gonna need is right by his dorm room.

Not sure I agree on the wisdom of him sitting. I want the guy getting reps and getting on the field ASAP. His having to sit out a year only increases the chance that he tries to come out to the NFL after suiting up only one year in a Bulls uniform. He's already 23 years old, about to turn 24 years old in a few weeks. Him not being able to suit up this year means he'll be 25 years old by the time he can suit up for the Bulls, and he won't want to waste his 26th year trying to play college football to where the earliest he can hit the NFL is 27 years old.

If he didn't have to sit a year you might have had a shot at convincing him to stay at South Florida for an extra year, play the 2013 season as a Bull and continue to get coached by Chris Hovan so that he'll be a higher quality NFL prospect right away. Now, I don't think you can convince him to stay on in 2014, so you're only going to get him one year.

One step at a time, Grasshopper.

Haven't been able to get in touch with Soslan, but he is now expected as a walk-on on the team this fall, though he can't play until 2013. Might not go to Vero as part of the 105 because he can't play for another year, but he'll be with team on first day of school.

Vero might be a real good experience for him though. Having come from such disparate cultures, Russia, Japan and Utah, maybe a little BBQ and bonding might get him moving quickly in the right direction. Maybe Coach can wangle a way for him to go. Has anyone seen the Vero schedule yet. I want to spend some time up there this year, Got a start up going, but my priority this year is Bulls FB.

23 year old walk on with limited football experience. Probably learning english too so there's another difficulty for school purposes. and the sumo experience won't make him ready for dealing with cut blocks or moving laterally to defend the run. I wouldn't expect anything but a scout team body provided he can even get or stay in school.

I'm going to just repeat myself given the unwarranted optimism in this thread.

So noted. Let the record reflect that Sanjay has misgivings about Mr. Gagloev.

i don't think Sanjay's projection is unreasonable.

Why should we think anything different?

Well, the guy has the size and strength to play football and is apparently determined to do that. The fact that he was able to make it as a Sumo wrestler, shows that he is not afraid to work hard to achieve his goals. I certainly wouldn't bet against him.
