He found out because it was leaked, not official yet. What do you expect him to do? Call every Big East team every 5 minutes and get a up to date. He said there is no protocol for this type thing, obviously. As the Big XII commissioner. And he did say they have plans in place for scenarios like this one. He has been on the phone the entire time, most likely to Big XII schools.

Marianatto is a wuss.  He is the lack of a leader that has put us in this position.  He prefers to react to situations instead of leading his conference.

Marinatto said there is no conference rule to force a member to notify the commissioner it has applied to another conference.

"Out of courtesy, I'm sure they would, but there is no protocol," he said.

In charge since 2009, Marinatto said his conference has a plan to react to several situations. He wouldn't say if that included losing Syracuse, an original member when the conference formed in 1979, and Pitt, which joined three years later.

"I'm not at liberty to get into all of that right now," he said.

Marinatto nevertheless proceeded with his work. He paced the back hallways of the press box with ear buds connecting him to a cell phone he spoke into during long conversations. Then he disappeared.

I think it is premature to decide on Marianatto before the moves are all finished.  It isn't looking too good at the moment, but we're only nearing halftime.

Yeah, this guy got TCU into the Big East, the number 2 team in the country last year. He is also in talks with Big XII teams. Just burning him because Pitt and Syracuse jumped the gun is premature.

Big East Commissioner Marianatto has been asleep at the wheel for awhile now. Now the BIG EAST looks like it will implode.

Marianatto should have been more PROACTIVE.

According to Brett McMurphy, the BE has already approached all of the Big XII schools except OU and Okl St to gauge interest in Big East if Big 12 implodes. Not sure what else he can do and that sounds proactive. Doubt he did that in the last 3 hours.

Forcing nova on the football members was a debacle that rests at the feet of marinatto.

He looked foolish when he didn't have a consensus in his back pocket and the conference took a hit to it's rep.

He's a fat slob. . . . I am worried how he will take care of USF when he doesn't seem to take care of himself.
