Pocket Passers are worth more. There is less risk of them getting injured when they arent running around like Grothe and BJ when they got their injuries. It is not to say his passing ability is "worse" than the PPs. Instead of getting a QB who is above average in both categories, they would rather have one who specializes in throwing only. The Running can be saved for the RBs. It doesnt mean a DT cant beat a PP or play better than him in a game or in several games. It is just about perceived value. It sucks for AW, but I get it.

In general I can understand that. However, in THIS case, he outpassed the pp QB's at the Elite 11 camp, when it mattered the most.

I agree, but I don't know why they threw that dual-threat QB label on him in the first place. It's not like he runs 20 times a game. Last year, I think he only averaged about 7 running plays a game. That doesn't sound like a running QB to me. I guess people are to quick to judge sometimes and throw around meaningless labels that aren't warranted. He's completely different than a BJ or Grothe imo.

As Parrot pointed out, it probably has to do with the fact that he was a former WRand that's why they labeled him a DT QB.

its their way of saving face for not having him ranked higher...they still have about 9 qbs ranked higher than him, but they have them labeled as "PP" which i'm assuming meas Pocket Passer

Of all the QB's ESPN has rated, the's tied for 10th with another "Pocket Passer" rated at 83.

Hey at least they moved him up the dual-threat ladder.

He was rated 83 before when he was ranked the 6th best dual-threat QB. He should have moved up to around 85-86.

I noticed that too. That didn't make any sense.

I guess it takes a lot to move from 83 to 84. Something like 120 spots. AW went from an 83.2 to like an 83.8, rounding down. :) I take it they don't think highly of QB-DT, even though he put on a clinic over the best QB-PPs. I am sure they want to see his senior year productivity before moving him more.

We have no rec this year they are gonna run him to deff may transfer can't risk him getting hurt over foolishness

I hope he knows how to slide. Our former QB, Marquel Blackwell was good at that and always stayed healthy. On the other hand, Grothe and Daniels didn't and they paid the price.

^^ Evans High is 31 minutes from Winter Park (according to Google maps) and has Tony Stevens and Dominic Walker.

Winter Park has a good young QB who performed very well this past weekend. He certainly would get more chances to play the position, if AW went elsewhere.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
