Actually, not sure about that.

Eveld is ahead mentally? Why? They're both true freshman.

Perhaps Gunsby should show the same dedication Eveld does, staying late to learn the playbook and what not. Are him and BJ gone asap? Hahaha...

In the end, I'm sure BJ and Gunsby will be our 1/2 I'm sure.

The more competition, the better each will become.

Who knows why. Maybe Gunsby is a slow learner. Are you discounting Eveld because he is a walk on? If the kid got drafted by the Mets, i think that tells you something about his athletic ability.

Heck yeah

I think this team in a few years will be sick if Holtz can work his magic like he has.

Eveld had scholarship opportunities.  USF got lucky getting him to walk on.  We'd expect Gunsby to eventually surpass him, but the freshman year is especially tough.  Eveld may have an advantage because he grew up in Tampa, Gunsby is dealing with being away from home for the first time along with a new playbook.  Based on his play in the scrimmage, Gunsby doesn't exactly suck.

I think it speaks more to Eveld having a good showing than Gunsby being a disappointment.

I would guess that Skip really wants to redshirt Gunsby so that he has 2 years to shine. Eveld is probably getting a lot of opportunity to prove that he can play so that he can be the No. 2 and Gunsby doesn't burn a year on the bench. So, with that logic, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gunsby doesn't make it above 3rd on the depth chart.

Think about it, if Gunsby is the future, but right now there isn't much drop-off with Eveld, why wouldn't you go with Eveld. So much controversy over the third string QB (yeah, Landi is probably the guy if BJ goes down, so this really is about No. 3).

uhhhhhhh, bump?  Been waiting on this all week and no comments?

Some True Frosh in there...Joyce?  I need to look him up, don't know anything about him.

Shields over Virgin?  I guess that's unexpected due to the practice reports we've been reading.

Its nice to see Giddens in there.  Some big playing time backing up Marshall, especially with the way we rotate the line.

Jacquian in there as the starter.  Could be a fast linebacking core!

IMO, Joyce is the sleeper of this recruiting class. The guy is a BEAST. He's a tremendous track star in the hurdles. He's going to have a great highlight package by the time he's done.

Much like Selvie, Bedford is trying to put on a little size -- he was up as high as 250 in Vero Beach, but said the physical drain of daily practices in hot temperatures have him back down to 245. Asked which of the newcomers on defense has impressed him so far, Bedford didn't hesitate in naming true freshman safety Mark Joyce, who is making a case to play right away this season.

"He's going to be able to help us out a lot," he said. "(He's a) ballhawk, and he'll come down and hit you, which is what you want from your safeties. I love that. He's shown the ability to pick up the playbook as a true freshman."

Thanks.

I see that Barrington is now listed as #2 MLB.
