GA JUST tweeted "Good news for USF tackle Mark Popek, who has been diagnosed with a second-degree MCL sprain in his right knee. Likely out 3-6 weeks"

Thank goodness, and thanks for those braces that they wear.  They will get him on a bike as soon as they can to strengthen the know once the swelling goes down.

the line is the deepest part on the team? zach hermann is gone , jake sims has a concussion, jeremiah warren has a concussion, chaz hines is operaring on a shaky ankle still nagging him from spring practice, josh garvin has almost been dismissed from the team for personal reasons.and now popek goes down .hopefully he is as tough as he is big

Good lord the reading comprehension on this board is miserable...my post said the LINE is probably the DEEPEST position on OFFENSE.

I don't know if you noticed but our whole offense is pretty thin....which would be a bigger headline? Popek or Landi or Bogan or Plancher hurt? Pick your poison. I say I think we could survive without Popek....I hope it is nothing but we do have 3 enormous Freshman lineman that we plan to redshirt. We can't say that about the QB, RB or WR position.

Brown Bull,

They are still true freshmen. If you have a true frosh playing on the oline you better have your 3rd string qb ready. People take the line too lightly. And they are the heaviest position. Lol :)

That is true but I guess what I am saying is I don't think the O-line is our biggest concern as of yet. The 1st 4 posts were "this is outrageous" and "we can't catch a break" and my response is slow down.

This isn't BJ and Bogan blew out their knees....imagine the outrage then. This is technically the backup Tackle.

Not to mention we still have Jamar Bass, Sampson Genus, John McGhin, Darren Powe, Danous Estenor, Damien Edwards, and Kevin McCaskill.

We have 11 players listed on the 2 deep depth chart from the spring...so per an earlier post...we have 4 of those guys who have some issues, Popek, Sims, Hine and Warren. Then you have Josh Garvin and Steven Jacques...that is before you touch the 3 big True Freshman.

So 7 healthy linemen, 4 with some injuries and then 2 more to play with before you get to the 3 freshman. Sounds deeper than our QB's or WR's. Now if we lose Bass and then Sims get's something more serious, then I think our O-line has some serious problems.
