When reading about his approach one gets the feeling Holtz is the smartest football coach ever. He may no be, but it sure reads like it.

he is surely adept at gaining the most from changes from poor former policies while honoring the positives that have occured.

It makes sense to slow down and break for a couple minutes, just like a game, take a half time break to regroup, get your brain re-engaged, and your body set.  However, I must say that Leavitt's trainers were the first in the country to utilize the body core sensors that players swallowed.  This allowed USF the ability to monitor very closely how the players bodies were reacting the heat and pull them out before heat stroke or change the pace of a practice.

I appreciate good coaches, they can walk that fine line of pushing players versus being weak.  I believe CSH can do that, his comment about coming out of break sluggish will result in no break, is an example.  I hope these guys are well conditioned to play in the heat through overtime if needed.

i think he has this wrong

i think he is being kind to kids that are here

i guess he is blaming past failures on coaching not lack of talent

We've never had a problem in OT  ;)

No smazza. He is saying that this team doesn't suck like the past teams he has taken over.

I'm having a hard time with all of this.....If Jim Leavitt was still here, would we be rebuilding or would we be discussing winning our conference?  If we have the same talent and we are all on the same page that our new coaching staff is just as talented as our last-if not better-so could someone please explain to me why we are rebuilding.

In the past year-how many new systems did Grothe have to learn and we still won 8-9 games...sorry, just my two cents

If Coach Leavitt were still here we wouldn't be talking about winning the conference.

We are rebuilding from the standpoint that we lost a couple of underclassmen to the NFL. Having Mitchell and JPP sticking around for their senior seasons would have been very helpful, especially at the WR position.

Yeah..much like we've 'discussed' winning our conference championship for the past five years.

The term 'rebuilding' is applicable to meshing the new coaching staff with players as much as it

is used when replacing a volume of players. Rebuilding to establish new relationships.

Not to mention we lost FIVE guys to the draft + Grothe. Never has this school lost this much talent, real talent at once.
