The Tampa practices -- before and after Vero -- are open for the first half-hour, with players and coaches available after for interviews. It's a good format, given that othre state programs are closing practice entirely.

Holtz said he's never been a big believer in beating up kids physically in preseason, so he doesn't do a lot of two-a-days. He said if you want to be physically demanding, you do it in spring, when they have months to recover without missing games. GA, by "open" does he mean just media or "open" meaning media and public?

Sorry -- I did not mean open to the public in Tampa. He might set aside select days to be open to the public, but I am not aware of regular practices in Tampa or any portions of them being open to the public. The media is allowed access for the opening half-hour in Tampa.
