Players and the Alma Mater

Who gives a **** about the alma mater? Why do people always whine and cry about this?

Other schools do a lot of things. No doubt there are plenty of schools at which players don't sing the alma mater as well. It doesn't make a difference.

Yeah seriously, and who gives a crap about the National Anthem too. I mean its just a song right?  :

I wouldn't be offended if schools stopped playing it before games. It doesn't make a difference. It doesn't bother me that they do play it, I just don't have an opinion either way. It's just a song. I'm pretty sure even the most corrupt and tyrannical of governments have national anthems, it's not some random song that creates freedom and all that, just like the alma mater doesn't achieve ... whatever it is you think the alma mater achieves. I'm an alum twice over and I have no clue what the words are, and I'm not the only one.

gobulls83 has a point. yes, some people get up in arms about the alma mater and/or national anthem but there's no reason to dictate what our school should do regarding either. it's not a big deal either way. i'm not going to magically have more or less school/national pride because they play some theme song during games.

I dont think he is asking you to stay and sing the Alma Mater he would like the team to.maybe this will build a little more pride in our school among the players, students and fans.  you may leave the game at any time. :2cents

I think it would be a great tradition for USF to make their own.
