I would welcome Memphis - BE needs some whipping boys to fatten up their record just like every other conference has - Big 10 got NW & IU; Big 12 has Baylor & Colorado(well they did) & K-State, Pac 10 has Wash & Wash St & AZ & Az ST; SEC has Vandy,Ky & Miss St.; ACC has Duke & Wake.  Sure some of these teams have had a good year once a decade or so but for the most part you can count on a W when playing them.

If the BE expand. Memphis and disney unversity will be coming together. I do believe the big ear mouse university was promise a spot in the BE, and to keep quiet about. I hope for, no I pray for a SEC and ACC expansion. Hope that we'll be outta here.

I think it is a good thing. Memphis gives us someone a little closer to home.  Decent BB program.  Football that at least knows how to upset top teams and go to bowls occasionally.  Not a bad pick. 

Plus, it would be fun watching the message boards of the school to the East light up with how they were screwed again and yet another unworthy school passed them by.  They would self destruct.

Sooo, are you all thinkin' the BE Commish is saving this announcement for tonight, or what?  Seems like it would merit a spot a little higher up in the meetings agenda than that if it were going to happen.  :  Last I checked, Presidents do not attend BE Media Days.  I guess they voted Memphis in at their last meeting and kept it secret until it hit Memphis fan forums yesterday?  :

I have heard so many false rumors that I have given up trying to believe or predict what goes on behind the scenes.

Like the reporter said that if does happen then its not really shocking news since:

1.) Memphis hired the former Big East Commissioner.

2.) The current Big East Commissioner is bosom buddies with the former Commish which is at Memphis.

3.) FedEx is offering bribe money to any conference to take Memphis.

4.) Memphis controls the Liberty Bowl, thus why else allow the Big East to use it.

5.) Memphis has a good basketball program.

6.) Memphis adds a semi-large tv market and expands the Big East's dominion in the South (i.e. road trip for LV and us).

7.) Big East needs a 9th team for scheduling and a guaranteed whipping boy because eventually Syracuse will get better.

If this is just another rumor then I won't be shocked either... sooner or later the Big East will invite Memphis whether if its today or 2 years from now it will happen.
