Perhaps, Holtz wants him to earn #2.

Holtz doesn't like duplicating jersey numbers. Washington wears #2 on defense. He said that players with the same # are grandfathered in, but then he will be phazing it out. Sometimes he may want to use both guys wearing the number at the same time, such as on kickoff or punt return duties, and the NCAA doesn't allow that.

I think Darrell is a little embarassed that he didn't get #2.

He took down "his" #2 pic [which was really Andre Hall] and replaced it with this #2 pic.

I guess Holtz is making him EARN it.  ;D

I remember the day when every running back wanted 20 or 22 because of Barry Sanders and Emmit Smith, and every wide reciever wanted 80 or 88. Weird seeing all the single digit numbers out there.

Especially Ryan Giddins in the 7 jersey
