Baseball & Softball stadium names?

Doesn't the name of the venue come from the donr who supplied a large amount of the funding for that venue?

One idea would be to call the stadium complex by one name and name the actual playing fields for important figures fopr the sports.

Softball:  Ken Erickson Field at the (Insert Person Here) Sports Complex

Baseball: Robin Roberts Field or Red McEewn Field at the (insert name here) Sports Complex

Your correct... since the old Red was torn down my money is on it being named after who ever donated or ponied up the dough to build the new one -Or- perhaps since the softball and soccer stadiums are also being built then maybe the donors name will be placed on one of those new facilities.

My guess is that like everything else nowadays the name will be dictated by money as will many other things.  Fully monetized. 

Secondly, what did Robin Roberts accomplish to deserve such iconic stature?  Ericksen has had some success (as did Roberts) but we'd be setting the bar low to honor either with a named stadium.

A row of seats in your name = $10,000 donation payable up to 5 years.

Your name on a tile at the entry to the new complex:

4 x 8" Tile = $200

8 x 8" Tile = $400

Former baseball and softball players can get an 8 x 8" granite tile in the dugout with their jersey number, position and years plated for $400.

If USF names the field after Erickson, then they can kiss any idea of ever replacing him goodbye(if he were to start to suck).

When you name a field after the current coach, all your doing is boosting their ego.

FSU couldn't "fire" bobby bowden, despite the field being named after him (and a giant statue outside)

FSU will never be able to "fire" baseball coach Mike Martin, because his name is on the baseball field @ **** Howser Stadium.

Hence, while you'll NEVER see the field at Ben Hill Griffin stadium, named after Urban Meyer.

You are correct, but Jay Bergman Field still stands.  I have heard UCF is renovating the place, so maybe a new name will come then.
