USF, Louisville, West Virginia, and Cincinnati are all in the south.  As a native Ohioan, I can attest that Cincy has always seen itself as a southern city.  The Mason-Dixon Line is on Maryland's northern border, after all.  Maryland is a southern team as well, as is Navy.

I grew up in southern Maryland and can attest to this. Maryland is in the south and WV borders MD, VA, and KY.  If you have ever been to WV....it is defintely a southern state geographically and in life style.

about the same as UCF last year?

no UCF Football Home Attendance Average was 38,078 for the 2009 season playing in a Non-BCS Conference w/o a ranking. Just pointed out the negative of considering Houston and other schools west of the Mississippi. UCF is often questioned that "they won't deliver the Orlando market"(not true) but then fans want Houston who couldn't even fill up their 32K stadium when spending most of the season in the top 25, what makes you think they'll deliver Houston's market? That's probably another reason the Big 12 said No to them. UCF, Memphis, and ECU are the most likely Non-BCS options if there are no current BCS teams available. I agree about all this hopefully leading to a playoff where conference affiliation won't matter on the field where everyone gets their shot

TCU is a better option than all 3

TCU IS the best option.  Their revenue is higher than even USF's.  Houstons isn't.  Houston is barely a .500 team after 65 years of football.  And the are ranked 7th in total soprts revenues in Texas alone.  TCU is not a fit though based on geographics.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
