SEC commissioner reportedly meets with Texas A&M officials

Conference talking with Aggies as it waits to find out if preferred targets Texas and Oklahoma will head to the Pac-10

College conference realignment isn't taking the weekend off.

Two media sources -- Jackson, Miss., television station WJTV and A&M blogger/radio host Billy Liucci  -- report that Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive is meeting with Texas A&M officials today in College Station, Texas.

Also, ESPN.com reports that SEC appears resigned to adding A&M rather than their preferred choices, Texas and Oklahoma. The Longhorns and Sooners reportedly will bolt the Big 12 for the Pac-10 as early as Tuesday, as part of a five-team expansion bloc.

I think this is a smart move by aTm.  They will get out of the shadow of Texas, and they will be in the best conference in the country.  OU would be smart to do it also

I think this is a smart move by aTm.  They will get out of the shadow of Texas, and they will be in the best conference in the country.  OU would be smart to do it also

Except their annual rivalry would end... and the A&M fight song is all about the University of Texas:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aggie_War_Hymn

Here is a link to orangebloods saying ou might be headed to the SEC.  That probably would mean kansas and utah to the pac10.  I just hope we land on our feet.

From the sound of it the SEC has A&M... they want them because it would give a natural rival to Arkansas who currently does not have one in the SEC.

It also appears that the SEC could either take or leave UT / OU.

The SEC also said that there are no current plans to raid the ACC... I guess they are waiting to see if the PAC10 becomes the PAC16 before they add any more teams. Kind of like monkey see, monkey do.

No they don't.  There was a story about how Arkansas might be coaxed out of the SEC because they don't have a rival.  Sure, Arkansas is trying to make LSU their rival, to which LSU simply laughs and scoffs.

Kinda like how USF is UCF's rival... but they are not ours.
