Who predicted Texas to the Pac 10?

I would agree that Miami to the SEC is not likely, but you can't use Miami's public statements to defend that position.

But Miami doesn't have to go to the SEC for USF to end up in a good position, and given the actions in the past two weeks, I can't say that it takes THAT much mental gymnastics to see USF in a good position.

OU said they are not leaving Texas, they have too long of a history together. Miami has said they don't want to be in the SEC and they don't fit the profile of the schools. If a couple teams move conferences, USF/BE will be fine. If all hell breaks loose, USF will end up in ACC. It's the middle scenario were the BE dissolves but there are not enough slots at the ACC table that is scary. Going back to CUSA would be a Knigtmare.

Every time i read Miami to the SEC in a post i just stop reading.  We are still in a scary spot and really need to be rooting for all hell to break loose. 

Miami is saying the same things that the Big 12 schools were saying before the move.  Miami won't publicly say they want to move to the SEC until they vote to move to the SEC.

Miami does not fit what the SEC wants in a school and the big 12 schools weren't trash talking the big 10 and pac 10 when this all started.  Miami knows the SEC doesn't want them and you can really get that feeling from reading that article and the quotes.  People are using mental gymnastics to try to make the situation more cushy for USF but it's taking some big time mental gymnastics to do so.  People can try to wish Miami into the SEC all they want but it's not going to happen.  Then again there are people on this board who realistically think USF has a shot at the SEC so i have to remember who I'm dealing with.

Having been a student at Miami for 5 years now, I'd actually say it's not just about the SEC not wanting Miami.... I've got a few friends on the inside, and I can tell you, Miami doesn't want the SEC. They're not hurting financially, and while revenues do matter, other things matter a lot to the U. Like reputation, notoriety, associations, etc. They fit muuuuch better in the ACC, where they are at least happy with their revenues, than they do in the SEC. Culturally, you couldn't have much less of a fit between Miami and most of the SEC, including the type of school, fan base, goals, etc etc.

Trust me. Miami won't be leaving to go to the SEC.

Yeah i kinda figured that too but i really don't know enough about the inner workings of Da U to toss that out there.  Miami in the SEC is just not a good fit at all for any reason that i can think of.

Would it help any that the ACC championship game is already in USF's  front yard for a USF move to the ACC?

The ACCCG is in Charlotte, NC now (it was supposed to originally be there, but apparently there were scheduling issues).

for instance, for a while there it seemed like a real possibility (still may be) that Texas A&M would be in the PAC 10. Could you imagine the culture clash of the aggies making their way to Berkeley or vice versa?

Maryland, really not a foodball powerhouse.  TV market semi large with the D.C Area.  Not sure why they would want them.

academics, decent size NEW market, decent tradition for athletics although football has been down lately.
